It's Raining It's Pouring......

It's a MIRACLE!!!  Seriously people it's only rained like twice.....maybe an inch or two.....all summer.  We have mowed our yard maybe 3 times the entire summer.....it's a rare occurrence around here for a steady all day rain to happen!  So after school  we went for a celebratory walk in the rain:)

This was before school, waiting on the bus.   They were both SO excited to be able to actually use their umbrellas........then we opened them up and discovered that Iley's was broke.....she had a Cars one, and Wren has a Thomas the Train.......yes they picked them out their selves.  Harrison ran upstairs and got Iley's other umbrella with Hello Kitty on it........which looked much cuter with her outfit.......but she was not even thankful......she was just mad that her new Cars umbrella was broke!!!  I thought we might have a melt down...like into a puddle.....refuse to get on the bus kind...... so I quickly promised a new one when we went to Hays next time.....even put it on the list.........whew....melt down avoided, but oh my the pout..........

 no Cricket smiles.....not amused!

poor sad Cricky

Wren on the other hand delightedly was dancing in the rain, signing "hear" when she stepped out and heard it tap tapping on her umbrella.

Cricket still not amused......I'll look at you but a smile is asking too much in my situation!  Wren is signing water as she points to the big puddle.

She looks pink and ruffled enough to be in a Hello Kitty Ad!

THIS IS SO AWESOME!!...says Scout.

You're a cute lil Cricket even if you aren't chirping:)
After school it was still raining with all kinds of marvelous puddles.......so eh hmmmm...being the great mom that I am.....cough cough.........I gritted my teeth and tried not to picture the floor or laundry pile...and  let them take their umbrella's and boots and go play in the rain and puddles.

 It started out sedately enough........

 BUT.........quickly got wild!

........the umbrellas were tossed aside.........no thought for the white shirts crossed their minds.....

But Mom.........was envisioning ruined shirts and screeched STOP!........lets go change your clothes.......should have done that first of course.......but they were in a hurry to get out the door.

When we got to the house......Ella was just getting off work at DQ and grabbed an umbrella and joined us.  She is posing for me as the DQ Goddess:)..........because the colors are right and all.....she is pretty cute;)

So the girls posed too.......

Thomas you are totally ruining the effect!

I love how Wren is looking up to see just how Ella is holding her umbrella.

She loves her big sis:).........she also loves to kiss anyone who will let her!

I like Wren's expression in the background!

Started out emptying the boot of water........and ended up barefoot.

"It's raining"......yes it is........"I'm wet".......yep......."I'm done, I wanna go in the house with you"..um I'm not going in, but you can go..."No, you go with me"......mom's not done yet ...Iley was a grumpy little wet hen.  Cat Cat doesn't like to be uncomfortable! Curled up on the hearth rug about now is where she'd like to be!

This one on the other hand was happy as a duck in a puddle!

Then Ella started chasing them......

Which was good while it lasted......but now she's even wetter...and colder....

..... oh come on Cricket, it's FUN!

 What are they watching????????

A splash war between Sherman and Ella.......trust me she asked for it!.......and was totally game!

Sherman could kick WAY more water than El though!  Good thing she had the umbrella!!

She's looking at his feet saying ......."Good grief!  how do you kick so much water??? Do you have flippers?"   Uh oh Cricket got drenched!

 And Scout.

Soggy sisters!

 The abandoned rain gear.

 uh huh.......really!

I think she had as much fun as the kids!...maybe more.
Does anyone else see the resemblance??  Just sayin.............love you El! LOL

Then we had a little team work going on......

She almost fell on him here!

Then was acting like she was going to body slam him.

One last run through before we go in to dry off!

Conglomerate of Photos

My Father tells me it's time for another blog post......yes he's still bossing me around like that.........So here are a conglomerate of photos from the past few days.  Nothing terribly interesting though.

Posing for mom.....I think I told her to stand up straight.......?

The boys used our suburban to pull the boat this weekend, and brought the girls car seats in the house.........they had much more fun sitting in them on the couch than they do in the car!

Iley was telling her bear and Wren's doll "shhhhhhhhhh!"

These are terribly blurry for some reason?  They were all dressed up and dancing in the living room on Sunday.

 Monday Morning...........

Some days waiting for the bus brings dangers you never thought of!

She decided it wasn't such a bad arrangement after all!

Monday evening we met the whole family at DQ for supper.

We talked too long........and the natives got restless.......and made their get away.  They had strict instructions to STAY ON THE SIDE WALK!  Iley says "I know, I KNOW!"  They entertained the whole restaurant with their antics outside.

They were talking to each other through the glass, pretending something.

I think she was cold.......but maybe he just couldn't resist??

Don't you wonder what they're talking about out there?
 Hello!

 Did I hear my name??

Yes you did!  It's time to go!

They even raided the travel info station.  Looks like they'll be traveling in different directions!

Wren update:  We were able to sign to her "do you want to go with Dad and drive around (do errands)"  or "do you want to go to Kyndahls house with her"  She thought a little bit and signed back "Kyndahls house"  progress:)  She was given two choices, and understood and signed back.

Iley funny:  They are watching a DVD on the lap top and it keeps freezing up on them.....Iley yells MOOOOm and keeps whining while I'm trying to fix it.....Wren keeps telling her "shhhhhh"  and covering her ears......it goes on and on like this because the movie is froze..... finally Iley looks at me in exasperation and says "she not let me talk! It's making me CRAZY!"   Mmmmhmmm and YOU are making both of US a little crazy!

A Better Day!

I sent them off this morning hoping for a better day for Wren.  We talked about being nice again.......and about listening......and not throwing a tantrum if you don't want to do something, but instead take a deep breath and sigh and say OKay.  I prayed....for peace for Wren, for wisdom, patience and love for her teachers.  Today was a MUCH better day. whew.
Not sure why there's a bucket in the middle of the drive.......but I can guess who left it there......and Sherman forgot .........again........to take his watermelon rind and throw it over the fence.

They thought this was Sooooo funny!!!  They were both bumbling around in my sweatshirt.

You're choking me!!

Later we went to watch Gordon and Caleb play football........Wren sat and watched for a while.......then went off to play.  Iley was inside the school with Harrison watching girls volleyball......she wanted to watch that, so Harrison stayed with her.  Then Wren realized they were gone.....and wanted to go in too.   I had to go rescue Harrison after a while.

They both played under the bleachers for a while with a couple of other little kids.....Iley and a little boy in her class were sitting just chatting away over on the far side.  The game was over and most people had left.

I tried to sneak around and get a picture of them, but they saw me and moved.

Iley was so tired tonight when we got home.  She didn't want supper......but I made her eat it anyway.  She was sitting here looking at books waiting on supper.  She kept rubbing and rubbing her eyes.

She looked up and told me "my eyes not working!"  I can't see they all runny"
