Spring Fever

It was a beautiful day here!  Wow.  The kids came home from school and headed straight outside. I changed the girls clothes and sent them out the door......Well pretty soon the boys stuck their heads in and say...."Mom the girls can't ride dirt bikes without something on their legs"...so I change them again, and send them back out.

When I went out to get them, I found Wren staking her claim for the first ride on the motorcycle.

 Chillin while waiting her turn.

Someone is getting a little brave.

.....and we played on the play house.

.......and we played in the sandbox....with some of the same toys that their biggest brothers played with...maybe even their dad?

Tonka trucks and teapots.....can't beat that:)

....and played some football.

Then we took everyone potty.....of course....because.....it lessens the inevitable......and headed off on a walk.
...stopped to try walking on the tire ruts.( Which 10 months ago, they would have avoided because it would have been too scary!)

.....Ran down the cow feed trough.

Picked up sticks off the pile to use as...as.......well you just never know.

Mom, whats in here??  Or as Wren would say.....point point, and sign "see"  "help please".

"it's a dirty in there!"

....Then they climbed up the cow shoot...

...All was safe and well until Harrison decided to see if he could tip it.....

.....yep he could.  The girls hung on for dear life, and Iley was headed OUT!

.....We crawled around the old machinery and peeked through the tractor tire rims....

It was so funny, as Iley was sitting here a mama cow with a calf sort of "growled" at us....a low rumble of warning.....Iley looks at it and says "What was that"

Moooooo

I don't know why it's doing that.

Then they collected all the shot gun shells they could find to throw into the pond.  It was great, they made a nice splash, and then popped back up and floated.

Ready.....aim.......

....FIRE!!!!  What ever this girl does....she does all out.

This one ......not so much.

My walking companions taking a break.

I was laughing at Wren here......she looked like she was trying to do yoga!
Iley helping her get into position.
Now going from Yoga to the exercise bike.....this could have been one of the earliest models?  It still worked....sort of...but it sounded like it was screaming in agony!
Of course the girls both had to try it out.  Iley couldn't touch the pedals, and Wren had to wait till it came up each time, then stomp on it.

Then they hauled this lovely little number up the hill.........

.....and rode it down.......

Jumping the gully
......again.......and .........again........such patient brothers!

Then we looked up to see this lovely beastie staring at us!!!! Yikes!!! Where did he come from???
Sherman assured us that he was totally harmless....a total wimp.......never the less.....we gave him a wide berth, and stayed close to the fence....designated who was going to grab which girl and run if the need should arise......and kept a wary eye on him!   The he started walking right towards us which made me just a bit nervous!!!!!!!!!  I'm edging the girls closer to the fence, poised to RUN....but he just sauntered calmly by...WHEW!  Sherman calmly comments "there goes a good lookin hamburger" LOL

Made it back to the dirt bikes, and the boys ditched us.

Walked back down the trough again.......

....Stopped to take pictures for mom.........

Jumped on the only two tiny bales we could find.........Grandpa, where are all the bales??

Well.....some jumped...others chickened out.

smug bug

Then they had to take a run out through the wheat field.......?

.....and peek out the hole in the barn siding....

......the girls get in on stirring the milk for the baby calves.

Then .....OH JOY.....Wren gets to carry the bottle!!!  She was SO happy!  She LOVES doing anything that is an actual "job"  I was just glad I remembered to take my camera with me.

Then they got to feed the calf.

Refilling the bottle for the next calf.......with some VERY interested observers.

The little girl in the back ground is Isaac's little sister.  She wasn't sure what the thrill was:)  It was old hat to her!

No crying over spilled milk here!
That was our day from about 4:20 to 9:20 on Wed.........sorry for the picture overload......I really only put about half of them on here!  A true photographer that knows what they're doing would have only put on the best snaps ...that were carefully edited with just the right effects......but, I'm neither a photographer, nor do I have time to edit.....so you get them....lots of them......in the raw.  Thanks for stopping by!

Oh!!!! before I forget.....Wren heard a train while we were in the pasture, and actually saw and heard it at the same time....that was yesterday....Today while outside playing, she couldn't see the train, but when it whistled, she stopped and looked up and signed "train".........WOOO HOOOO!!!  That's big folks:)  she's identifying sounds:):)

Sisterhood

Warning lots of pictures of the same subject. They were just cute today:)

Looking at a book over breakfast.

I think we will all agree that Iley has grown!!  I think she's finally getting some legs:)  and meat on her.  This skirt was right at the top of her knee when I bought it!  Don't worry, she didn't leave the house in it.

I love this one:)  Classic Wren and Iley expressions.

Poor Wren....she's doing her best to get that little tied tongue out!

Marching off to conquer the world.  It was a lovely warmish day.....Wren crossed her arms, and Iley quickly followed suit.  Forgive the poorer quality of these pictures!  I didn't want them to know I was taking their picture, so they were all taken through the windows.....I followed them almost all the way around the house.  This whole series of pictures probably took place in a 5 minute time frame.  Wren is always leading.....and never stays in one place long.
 Boo!.....giggle giggle.....

 Come on sister!

Chasing each other around the tree.

 Grabbing handfuls of dirt........
Which they then carried over and stirred into the leftover snow.

Poked a stick into the next dirt spot a few times, and then moved on to the swing set.

Iley swung the swings a few times....Wren found more dirt to dig in.

These were a little bit later...Sherman finished his book and went out to play with them.  He's lifting them up so they can actually get the ball in the vicinity of the basket.  They are somewhat vertically challenged.
