Christmas at Home

Thursday was the last day of school, and the kids took candy for the bus driver and the teachers.  Instead of giving each teacher an individual bag, we made a big plate for the teacher's lounge.....it came back empty.

They both wanted to carry the candy, so they worked out a system on their own.

Sherman successfully carried this large heavy plate to and from school with out breaking it!

Iley came downstairs Friday morning.....before the door was opened...........I asked her "WHY are you down stairs?  Mommy hasn't opened your door yet."  She says... "cause Wren tied the door shut, and we can't get out"  ???  she is standing in front of me.......?  So I go up with her to see what is the problem.......and find that ....yep...the 'Mad Tie~er' has been at it AGAIN!  I asked Iley "why did she do that?"  Iley with total exasperation and a puzzled look, (like is this a trick question) shrugs her shoulders and says "because she wants too"  Which is pretty much as much reason as there is to this madness!

Kind of like Mt Everest....."because it was there"  have string.....must tie.

Their delightfully (to them) tacky Christmas tree.

We take you from the Mad Tie~er.....to.....The Cake Boss (wannabe)  Sherman LOVES to watch the show, Cake Boss.......while in Wal-mart he bought a spray can of icing......which of course, called for a cake baking............

We had our family Christmas on Sunday after church, because Thatcher and Kyndahl were headed to Ohio to see her family on Tues.  We included Ike this year........well cause we love him, and he's kinda one of the family.

Iley was keeping busy while we fixed lunch.

FINALLY we get to open the presents!

This could be the most regretted gift of the year!

 But oh they loved it!

Shermans turn!  He got .........cake pans.............

 ......and cake decorating tips..........

........and.......SCORE!...........icing bags..........YES!  The boys watched a little too much Cake Boss!

 Harrison.......a sleeping bag..oh yeah!

Isaac is next youngest.........he pretty much got all clothes.  All his female "family" decided his wardrobe needed updated.  Poor guy, we probably gave him a complex!

This was from Iley and Wren.  They did a great job of acting excited :)

Then Ella...

 ........she must have liked it.

I think Ash got socks from everyone!  He asked Ella "did you tell them I needed socks?"  She said "no dear....it's just really obvious."  We made him throw the ones he was wearing straight in the trash!
He was actually pretty excited about socks.........which he said if you think about it is kinda weird! LOL.

A sled.

Thatcher had help opening his next gift.

Ash got more socks, and a gift card to Home Depot.

 BEEF!!!!!!!!  She's happy, happy, happy.

The craziness finally got to him I guess.

Art supplies for Harrison.

To quote him........" I'm going to make this shirt look GOOD!"

Poor Ike had more help than he knew what to do with!  He's too nice.  He shoulda run them off.

The girls playing with their gifts............

.......and the big kids playing with the girls gifts!  This was a memory game that Wren and Iley got for Ash and Ella.  I thought it was cute they were all concentrating so hard!

 Playing Rail Baron

I think maybe they need a larger screen...........

Sherman got this from Ash and Ella.......a cast iron single serve skillet that came with a recipe, and mix for one giant cinnamon roll.  He promptly went to the kitchen and made it!  He even had to use yeast, and knead it, and let it raise!  pretty impressive.

The sled........was put to good use.......even with no snow.  Wren scooted all the way down on it by accident the first time........decided it was waaaay to fast, and scary, so they both got on the next time...  Wren on the back, holding on the the stair spindles, Iley in the front with her feet out front braking.  They'd go about 3 steps......grab another spindle.....brake.....shriek........and do it again.

The morning after.............up bright and early........serenading me before breakfast!

Go to face book and watch the videos.......they are hysterical!

Dad had grand intentions of getting a lot of work done today..........but he had many interferences!

One was accused of being very cat like...........coming back.....pestering for attention.....getting on his papers.........mmmmhmm.

The reason he leaves the premises to work........AND two of the reasons he comes home again:)

Sherman spent the whole afternoon in the kitchen!  He made 2 batches of fondant icing.  The first one was a sad sad loss......the second batch turned out perfect.  He researched recipes, and watched videos on how to........this kid cracks me up.  He even cleaned up the kitchen.....unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher!  He may be allowed back in there.

The beautiful..........hard won.........fondant.  Now it has to chill in the fridge for 24 hours.  Rest in peace you beautiful pink egg.........you are about to meet your maker.............hee hee.
Ok.....seriously time to stop.  Hope everyone has a Blessed Christmas!!!
