We are alive........barely:)

If I ever said i was busy before......I lied!  Wow!  Talk about two little tornados.  They want our attention constantly, to show us something or for reassurance.  I KNOW you all want more pictures.but they take about 5 min. each to load, and it's just hardly possible:(  SORRY.  Wren is very mild and gentle for the most part, and Iley is a little stinker!  She's adorable, don't get me wrong, but she will do things just to be ornery!  Wren wants to please and is very unsure of everything, and looks for our approval.  Iley is always BUSY and LOUD:)  Everyone knows when the Deatons are coming down the hall!  The communication barrier is HUGE!  Think of it like babysitting some one else's kids who are very active.....and a handful......and you have no idea what they want or are saying, and they don't know what you are saying! Then put all that in a hotel room in a strange country! this is HARD!  We are not sorry! but we are exhausted:)  They sleep all night....but it is fitful, and we are always aware of them.   They are absolutely adorable:)  Each day gets a little easier.  We are thankful that they are not screaming and crying, but seem to just roll with things.  There have been a few minutes of tears, but no fits yet.  Please continue to pray for all of our health, the girls seem to have a cold, and We REALLY don't need that to deal with on top of everything:(   Please pray that we will have the wisdom to know how to best bond and make them feel our love, and care.........and that we keep our sanity!!:)   We went back to the civil affairs office yesterday, and they seemed VERY nervous!  Wren does a little teeth chatter thing when she is nervous, and gets a fixed eye look.......sort of like she of checks out.  She also got her pictures of her nanny out while there and pointed at her and out the window.  They wanted to move our orphanage visit up to today, instead of tomorrow, but we said NO.  She isn't ready yet.  So they left it at Friday.  Please pray that they will be bonded with us at least some before that day!  Last night Iley wanted to sleep with Dad, so Wren and I slept in the other bed.  Iley always ends up cross wise, and Wren was up 4 times last night to go to the bathroom.  After the 4th time....20 minutes later, she wanted to go again.  I said no, and pulled her back up into bed.  She settled down for a while after that. I think we got a little sleep.
They are coloring at the moment, and Iley just broke two crayons:(  She's a mess.  An adorable one, but a stinker.  Her foster grandparents were in their 60's, and she is slightly spoiled!
More later!  We are surviving:)  But boy do we love America!  Can't wait to get home.  China has it's charm, and we are being treated very well, but it's just not home.

Ash, Thatch, Harrison, Sherm, Kyndahl, Suzy, and all our family.....xoxoxoxo

Such a better setting even if not home all the way yet! And can I just say I LOVE THE TUTUS!!! You weren't kidding about entering the pink tutu stage!!!! HOW CUTE! We are praying for the strength you need and for the bonding before Friday. I really understand as Benjamin's visit was very soon and we were afraid... GO you for saying no. That took guts I think!
    Way to parent your babies.
Oh, and thanks for the pics! They are perfect!!! Just the right ones for cuteness and getting the big picture.

  7. SOO Glad you posted! I was going crazy!! Checking your blog every 5 minutes!! :) Praying for much needed energy and patience. The "china trip" is a whirlwind but try to enjoy it as much as possible. I was longing for home as well, my family and good 'ol USA, and it was the most difficult part of being in China. The girls are absolutely beautiful! Wren's wingtip eyes and Iley's pouty cheeks! Love the noodle slurping ceremony!! And the tutu's...well, 'nuff said! So excited! Hang in there! Life will return to a new normal. We were worried about the orphanage visit too but as you know, XiaoSi literally walked out of there making a beeline for the gates and never looked back. I think it's good for them to visit their "old home" with their new family. It's closure, it says it's okay, maybe it gives them a sense of meshing their old life with their new and that you have witnessed it with them. I will be praying for their comfort and understanding of your love for them. I don't see "meeting the foster family" on your itinerary? Much Love, Angela

  9. Oh so many prayers on your behalf. We just learned that skin to skin/ swimming and bathing with your child is excellent for bonding. So distressing as a parent when your child has that checked out look. More prayers for attachment. Now we know how Iley has survived this long...Spunky little thing - LOVE!! Denee

  10. You are constantly in our thoughts and in our prayers as we pray for strength and rest for you. God has brought you this far and will continue to give you what you need for each day. We wish we could just take over for you when you get home so you could rest up but that time will come. :) Know you must be exhausted to just all of a sudden have 2 busy 5 yr olds but darling ones for sure. Love the pictures and hearing all about it but know your time is precious too so don't feel bad if you can't post often. Love you!!!

  11. :) Okay, so first I probably should apologize. I was cracking up reading this...pictures are worth a thousand words. :) They look like they are uh...high energy. ;) Love the pic of Wren with stickers all over her. You guys are doing GREAT, and you are awesome parents for these 2 lil adorable, energetic gals.

It does look super tiring. Emotionally draining. The thing with baby-sitting someone's kids is that you don't have to worry about bonding, etc. So add jet lag, foreign country, lack of sleep, communication barrier, pressure of bonding, ? lack of comfort food-ha, 2 bouncing girls that you love so much that need your attention all the time+ whatever else = Makes me tired just thinking about it.

All of this is beautiful in God's eyes.

Praying that bonding gets stronger today---

Looking forward to when you can be home.

    Love to all.

  13. Oh wow, Judy! I can just imagine those two busy bees!! Especially with the language barrier, not having set up any boundaries or discipline yet and their energy!! You must be exhausted. I remember Katie Grace Xi Hua going to the potty 20 times a day and sleeping crosswise too. Love the posts!
